Yellow, Front Door Feng Shui & Buy The Flowers
#1
We have all heard of colour theory and everyone knows that yellow is a happy colour. But have you ever been brave enough to use it in your own home? Because after seeing photos of the new San Sabino cafe in New York I’m seriously ready to commit.
But what I love is how the butter cream yellow hue is so effortlessly balanced with the round, leather-topped bar stools and the stainless steel accents like a ceiling “crown” and metal-trimmed booth seating. It’s happy without being childish.
Actually now I think about it, my husband’s childhood bedroom was a very similar shade. Maybe it was a sign….

I am by no means a Feng Shui expert but I believe as an interior designer it is an important concept to have a strong understanding of. And importantly it doesn’t necessarily call for huge changes in a home. Sometimes it can just be a simple reorganising of your space.
Our surroundings mirror where we are in life right now, including the lessons we’re meant to learn. Changes in our environment can lead to shifts in our energy, mood, psychology, and luck.
Starting with the front door, a simple quick tip is to always keep the entrance of your home clean and tidy as it represents wealth and your ability to attract opportunities. Position an attractive element on the wall across from your front door or near the entrance to act as a focal point, inviting positive energy. This could involve placing a stylish piece of furniture with flowers, beautiful artwork or a decorative sculpture.

Drink the wine. Eat the pasta. Buy the flowers.
You may not struggle with this (and if not, good for you!) but for the rest of us, it's worth asking why such a simple pleasures feel like such a frivolous indulgence.
Maybe it's the combination of purposelessness and transience. Flowers don't do anything, and they don't last very long. But, as I remind myself every time when I agonise over whether to get the roses from my local shop stand, life doesn't last long either.
It doesn't have to be roses, of course. Feel free to insert your fleeting, purposeless pleasure here. And go for it!
Thanks for reading.
Until next time,

p.s I’m trying to get better doing instagram. I’m far from perfect. Constantly dipping in and out of it when I have space in my brain. But I’m here if you want to follow me.
p.p.s This is my third Pillow Talk Newsletter (you can read the past ones here if you missed them). If you like what you read and think others might too, I’d be so grateful if you would hit that forward button and share the love. The more the merrier.
