Affordable Cushions, Emotional Art and Which Bench Top is Best?

Which bench top is best?

#1

Like most designers I have a weakness for cushions. A while back, interior designer Lucy Montgomery did some beautiful fringed cushions in the most stunning colours but unfortunately she doesn’t make them anymore and I’ve been on the hunt for something similar forever. I’m still yet to find some off the shelf ones that are as high quality, however these ones from Freedom are a half decent dupe (literally almost identical they just don’t feel as sexy).

Did you know that looking at original art evokes 10x the emotion as a reproduction? Worth saving up for the real thing in my opinion.

#3

Interior designers and home renovators the world over debate whether one bench top finish exists that will tick all the boxes:

The boxes in question being:

  • Cost

  • Size

  • Durability

  • Sustainability

  • Attractiveness (colours, touch)

  • Safe to machine

  • Gentle on the environment

But here’s the truth. Pleasing everyone and ticking every single one of these boxes is impossible. It ultimately comes down to where you see the most value.

In my humble opinion, you should choose the real deal stone because

A) We like natural products with natural variation
B) We love warmth, depth and texture
C) Natural stone, much like George Clooney and Brad Pitt, gets better with age.

Thanks for reading.
