Designing Comfort: Behind the scenes making custom furniture

I haven’t done a blog post in a while, however I was pretty excited to share a sneak peek into one of my latest projects, part of which is designing some bespoke lounges that are truly a labor of love!

In my practice, designing a space is not just about selecting furniture; it's about curating an experience and a mood. From the initial concept sketches to the hands-on construction with an amazing team of local Sydney-based manufacturers, every step is an opportunity to infuse personality and unparalleled comfort into the space.

From selecting the finest materials to meticulously crafting every detail, the artistry involved in bringing these custom lounges to life is awe-inspiring. Each piece is carefully tailored to the client's unique preferences, ensuring that it not only exudes comfort but also complements their personal style and existing decor seamlessly.

For this cafe project, I wanted to blend sophistication, colour and comfort. The custom lounge features plush seating, rich textures, in a bright shade of blue that grabs attention as shoppers pass by. Each element is meticulously chosen to create an inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation and connection.

Creating custom furniture is a collaborative effort. Huge shoutout to the incredible team at Custom Furniture Design whose dedication and expertise help me turn my grand plans into reality. From the framework to the upholstery, their craftsmanship brings the design to life, making this lounge and others that we have worked on, a true testament to the beauty of bespoke design.

For now, this is all I can share and there is still a way to go. But if you see some bright blue lounges while out shopping one day, order a coffee, take a seat and relax a while. You deserve it.
